Lady Lions Storm Past Panthers 15-6 on Jones' Three Goal, Four Assist Night

Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team returned to action at home Wednesday night picking up a 15-6 win over Birmingham-Southern under the lights at Walker Athletic Complex. KAYLA JONES was the star of the show with three goals and four assists while CAITLIN O'BRIEN and ROWAN BUMPASS added three goals each. 

Piedmont jumped out to a hot start as JENNA SMITH scored on a KAYLA JONES assist just 34 seconds into the contest and PC added another pair of goals within the first three minutes to lead 3-0. Birmingham-Southern cut that lead to 3-2 after a pair of back-to-back goals, but the Lady Lions reeled off five straight goals to lead 8-2 with 15:00 minutes to play.

The Panthers and Lady Lions would trade goals with each scoring two more before the break as PC led 10-4 at the half. The second half saw Piedmont outscore the Panthers 5-2 as CASSIDY HEFLIN started the scoring in the second half just over a minute and a half in.

The Lady Lions went on a 3-0 run to open the second half with CAITLIN O'BRIEN & ROWAN BUMPASS adding their third goals of the game. Piedmont was 18-of-20 on clears in the contest going 9-of-10 in each half.  

Turning Point
--An 8-2 run to open the first 15:00 minutes of play gave the Lady Lions an impressive lead heading into halftime as PC led 10-4 at the half. 

Standout Performances
--KAYLA JONES scored three goals in the contest while adding four assists as the senior now has nine goals and 11 assists this season. 
--BLAKE FORREST recorded 10 saves in the contest allowing six goals. 

Inside the Box Score
--The Lady Lions never trailed in the contest after putting up a pair of goals in just over a minute and half when the game began. 

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions lead the all-time series against the Panthers 2-1.
