Sewanee, TN - The Piedmont College track and field teams wrapped up the indoor schedule Saturday at the Sewanee Tiger Indoor Invitational with several school records falling in the final team indoor competition of the spring. The men's team finished in a tie for fifth at the meet while the women were fifth overall as well.
Piedmont had a pair of meet champions on the day as
KYLE RAY won the men's pole vault and
JULIA GRAHAM won the women's 55m hurdles. Ray tied his personal best in the pole vault from the outdoor season in 2016 clearing 4.55m (14'11"), a new school record for the indoor season, as he currently ranks second in the region and is tied for 45th best in NCAA Division III.
BROOKE HARDEGREE ranks 7th in the region in the women's long jump after bettering her school record jumping 5.15m (16'10.75"). Hardegree also improved her triple jump mark slightly to a 10.18m (33'4.75").
Both the men's and women's indoor mile times were school records as
BRYCE GRIGGS set the men's mile record at 4:42.50 finishing fourth overall while
REESE BOWLES set the record at 5:50.13.
NICK LEMONS set the school record in the men's high jump at 1.85m (6'0.75") coming in third overall behind a pair of Berry College athletes while
ALVIN JACOBS set the record in the men's long jump jumping 5.85m (19'02.5").
KILLIAN MCCLAIN improved his own school record in the shot put by over a meter throwing 11.11m (34'1.5").
Standout Performances

KYLE RAY won the pole vault competition becoming meet champion on his first jump after beating his nearest competitor by almost two feet.

JULIA GRAHAM was meet champion in the women's 55m hurdles and scored four points in the 400m and long jump.
Inside the Results
--The men's team finished in a tie for fifth at the meet, one spot ahead of host Sewanee, while the women were fifth overall, a single spot ahead of Division II North Alabama.

--Piedmont has a pair of athletes ranked in the top 7 in the region in KYLE RAY (men's pole vault) and BROOKE HARDEGREE (women's long jump).
