Sewanee, TN - The Piedmont College men's tennis team fell 8-1 earlier Friday afternoon to Sewanee on the road in their 2017 spring season opener. 

Piedmont fell in all three doubles showings but did get a nice debut from youngster JACKSON HILL who was able to win in three sets at the #5 singles slot.  Hill took the opener 6-4 before seeing Sewanee's Hamza Khan rally to take the second 6-1. 

In the decisive third, Hill took a 6-4 winner to claim the final set and get the decision in his spring singles debut for the Lions.

PC awaits Centre College for a Saturday showdown in Sewanee as part of its two-game swing through the Volunteer State to open up the spring season in 2017.

Turning Point
--With the Tigers closing out doubles play up three, Sewanee needed just two more singles spots to clinch the match on opening day.

Standout Performances
--Newcomer JACKSON HILL collected Piedmont's lone decision on the day winning in three at the #5 singles spot, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. 

Inside the Box Score
--Hill along with Piedmont teammate NATHAN METZGER faced the region's 11th best doubles pairing in Avery Schober and Andrew Carro at the top spot.

News & Notes
--Sewanee was the #37 team in the country coming into the match and also ranked 7th in the region.

The Lions stay in Tennessee to face Centre College in a neutral site match hosted by Sewanee on Saturday, February 11.
