MEMPHIS, Tn. - Despite trailing by 14 points at halftime, the Piedmont College men's basketball team rallied in the second half and used a layup with four seconds remaining to win 86-85 over Austin College.

Piedmont led by as many as nine with 7:00 to play in the contest, but the 'Roos kept it close and with 16 seconds to play took a one point lead. However, MARQUISE LANIER grabbed a rebound off a missed 3-pointer by TAYLOR MILLS for the layup and the game-winning shot to send the Lions to victory. 

The Lions led by five in the opening period with 8:30 to go till halftime, but the 'Roos made an 11-0 run to lead by nine and maintained the lead through the first half. Austin led 59-45 at the half, but in the second half, the Lions shutdown the 'Roos attack holding them to just nine made baskets from the floor.

Piedmont outscored them 41-26 in the second half and led by as many as nine with seven minutes to play in the game. The Lions were on a 15-3 run to start the second half quickly dwindling the lead from 14 to two at 62-60. 

The Lions reclaimed the lead as part of another run scoring 11 unanswered points to lead 73-66 after a 3-pointer by MICHAEL JOSEPH. The 'Roos tied the game with 1:18 on the clock but neither team would score again until Josh Garrett made 1-of-2 shots from the charity stripe with 16 seconds on the clock. 

Piedmont was down to its final possession and made the most of it as TAYLOR MILLS missed a 3-pointer but MARQUISE LANIER was there for the rebound and the put back as Lanier's layup sealed the victory for the Green and Gold. 

Turning Point
--MARQUISE LANIER made a layup with four seconds to play to seal the victory as he posted another career-high with 29 points. 

Standout Performances
--Lanier has continued to pour on the offense as he has once again posted a new career-high in points with 29 points Tuesday as he averages 14.0 points per game. 

Inside the Box Score
--JUSTIN VALLEJO added another 20 point performance as he has posted 20+ points in four of the last five games. 

News & Notes
--Vallejo has eclipsed 1,000 points in his career with his performance at the Rhodes Holiday Classic.
