MEMPHIS, Tn. - On the road in tournament play, the Piedmont College men's basketball team lost to tourney host Rhodes College 106-91 in the Rhodes Holiday Classic Monday. The Lions once again saw a player have a career night as Miles Riley tripled his career-best in scoring with 21 points for Piedmont.

Rhodes held Piedmont scoreless from the floor until the 17:58 mark when Elijah Alston made a 3-pointer to make it 7-5, but that was one of only four 3-pointers Piedmont would manage all game. Rhodes built a nine point lead with 14:24 to play in the first half, but a 6-0 run by Riley cut the lead to 22-19.

Piedmont took its first lead with 10:06 to play till halftime and kept it close trailing by just two points with 1:41 to play, but three 3-pointers by Rhodes over the final 1:30 gave them a 57-48 lead and momentum entering halftime. In the second half, Piedmont put up six quick points, but that was as close as Piedmont would get.

Rhodes maintained a double digit lead through most of the second half leading by as many as 23 with two minutes to go.

Turning Point
--The Lynx used three 3-pointers over the final 1:30 of the first half to distance themselves from Piedmont and create a nine point advantage at the break 57-48 and never surrendered the lead in the second half.

Standout Performances
--Piedmont had three players score 20 or more in JUSTIN VALLEJO (22), Miles Riley (21), & MARQUISE LANIER (20).

Inside the Box Score
--For Riley, Monday's 21 points mark a career-high for the sophomore whose previous high was seven points in a contest scored Saturday against Methodist.

News & Notes
--Piedmont allowed 18 3-pointers to the Lynx but were only able to manage four deep balls themselves.
