Lady Lions End Home Split With 3-1 Win Over Huntingdon

In the first home tri-match of the season, the Piedmont College volleyball team earned a split taking on Maryville College and Huntingdon College. The Lady Lions lost 3-2 to the Scots but came back for a 3-1 win against Huntingdon.

The Lady Lions looked to be in control with two wins in the first sets 25-21, 25-21 but the tables turned in the third set as the Scots gained momentum. Maryville used two 26-24 victories in the third and fourth sets to knot the contest at 2-2, but it was the Scots who came away victorious in the fifth 15-6 to claim the match.

Against Huntingdon, Piedmont again gained control early winning 25-20, 25-18, but Huntingdon took the third set 25-18 to make it 2-1. The Lady Lions were up in the fourth set 20-13, however, the Hawks came back to challenge late but ultimately lost as PC won 25-21 to claim the match. 


Turning Point
--Against Maryville, the Lady Lions had a 2-0 lead but then lost the third and fourth sets 26-24 forcing a fifth set where the Scots took the win. 

Standout Performances
--ANNA WRIGHT led the team in kills in both matches Saturday with 14 against Maryville and nine against Huntingdon. 

News & Notes
--KATELYN DURMIRE had eight blocks in each contest Saturday. 

Up Next

--The Lady Lions head to Brevard to take on the Tornados on Tuesday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m.
