DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont College volleyball team was able to outlast the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University 3-2 inside Cave Arena Thursday night. Despite trailing 2-1, the Lady Lions stormed back and took the match in dramatic fashion in the fifth set.
Piedmont took a 1-0 lead 25-22, but lost the next two 25-23, 25-22 in close sets. The Lady Lions pushed through in the fourth set with a dominant 25-12 victory to set the tone heading into the fifth set where PC won 15-7.
ANNA WRIGHT led the team with 12 kills while KATELYN DURMIRE and KAITLYN LOESEL both added 10. Durmire also had six blocks to add to her team-leading 80 blocks this season.
Turning Point
--The Lady Lions trailed 2-1 heading into the fourth set, but put away the Stormy Petrels quickly with a 25-12 win to set up the deciding fifth set.
Standout Performances
--LAINEY CHOINIERE had 21 digs and 17 assists in the contest as she contributed the second most of each in the game for PC.
News & Notes
--Jacoby Sims led all scorers with 23 kills in the contest for Oglethorpe.
