Volleyball Defeats LaGrange 3-0 to Split Tri-Match

With the season entering the final two weeks of competition, the Lady Lion volleyball team split a tri-match on the road Saturday losing 3-1 to Covenant and picking up a straight sets sweep against LaGrange. Piedmont's record moves to 11-9 overall and 5-3 in USA South play. 


Against Covenant, Piedmont dropped the opening two sets 25-20, 25-17, but managed to squeak by in the third with a 25-23 victory. In the fourth set, however, the Scots proved to be too much as they took control early for a 25-13 win to claim the match.

The Panthers were no match for Piedmont in the first set as PC took a 25-4 win, but in the second set, LaGrange stormed back and fought hard with Piedmont edging them 25-23. The Lady Lions coasted to a 25-15 win in the third to claim a split in the tri-match. 

Freshman BRIANNA GILBERT had a total of 14 kills on the day while fellow classmate ALINA ROBERTS had 13. HALEY HIXON combined for 31 digs on the day and LAINEY CHOINIERE led the way with 19 assists v. Covenant and 18 v. LaGrange. 


Turning Point
--In the match against Covenant, the Lady Lions took the third set, aiming for the comeback, but the Scots prevailed in the fourth set 25-13 to claim the victory. 

Standout Performances
--KATELYN DURMIRE continues to be a dominant threat at the net for opponents as she tallied five blocks against LaGrange. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont had a dominant victory in the first set against LaGrange with a 25-4 win tying the lowest point total PC has given up this season (Mary Baldwin). 

Up Next

--On Tuesday, the Lady Lions begin a busy week at home hosting Agnes Scott at 7:00 p.m. inside Cave Arena.
