BREVARD, N.C. - In one of the Lady Lion volleyball team's final matches outside of counting conference play this season, Piedmont lost a tight 3-2 match to Brevard College. Piedmont won the fourth set to force the deciding fifth set but despite a 7-7 tie midway through dropped the final set and the match.
Brevard took the first set 25-18, but the Lady Lions answered with a close 25-23 set to tie the match at one all. It was a similar story as the two went back and forth with Brevard winning the third set and PC taking the fourth, but in the fifth set, Brevard outlasted the Lady Lions for the victory.
The Tornados had three athletes with 13 or more kills while for Piedmont, no one had more than nine kills as it was a balanced attack offensively. KYLIE BLANTON and ALINA ROBERTS led PC with five block assists each.
Turning Point
--The fifth set was tied at seven but the Tornados went on an 8-2 run to end the set and take the match.
Standout Performances
--Brevard's Hannah Elmore led all attackers with 22 kills in the match as the Tornados had 65 kills to Piedmont's 46.
News & Notes
--The five set match marks the fourth time that Piedmont has been pushed to five sets this season with a 1-3 record in five set matches in 2017.
