Atlanta, GA - The Piedmont College volleyball team continued to impress Saturday picking up a pair of 3-0 victories at the Oglethorpe Invite over Belhaven University and Keystone College. Piedmont's record moves to 3-1 overall after winning their final three contests of the tournament.
In the opening match of the day against Belhaven, the Lady Lions picked up a 3-0 victory winning 25-16, 25-23 and 25-19 over the Blazers. Piedmont held the Blazers to a negative attack percentage in the third set giving them a -.018 attack percentage for the match.
The Lady Lions took a 6-1 lead in the opening set and set the tone early before the Blazers came back to make it a 9-8 Piedmont advantage. Piedmont's first set was the most decisive score with a 25-16 decision followed by a close 25-23 win in set two.
The third set was close through the opening points but the Lady Lions moved ahead to a 15-9 lead after a 4-0 run and won 25-19 to sweep the Blazers.
KATELYN DURMIRE had seven blocks as Piedmont had a total of 11 with
AMANDA TROTTER and
KYLIE BLANTON both accounting for three each. Trotter led the team with seven kills and Blanton posted six.
Against Keystone, Piedmont started strong gaining a 7-0 advantage in the first set but the Giants kept it close with PC taking the set 25-21. It was just the opposite story in the second set as the Giants jumped out in front 6-0 before the Lady Lions came back to seal a 25-23 win and capped off the victory with a 25-19 win in set three
Durmire led the team with seven kills in the match while also adding five blocks with Blanton adding five kills and three blocks.
LAINEY CHOINIERE had a team-high 10 assists with
EMILY PETERS just behind with eight while
HALEY HIXON led the way with 21 digs.
Turning Point
--In the second set v. Belhaven, it was all tied up at 22 each, but the Lady Lions survived to take the second set 25-23 as they held on to sweep the Blazers.
--The Lady Lions were down 6-0 against Keystone in the second set but stormed back to a 25-23 victory once again.
Standout Performances
--
AMANDA TROTTER led the Lady Lions against Belhaven with seven kills while
HALEY HIXON had 17 digs.
--
KATELYN DURMIRE led the team with seven kills while also posting five blocks against Keystone.
Inside the Box Score
--The Lady Lions had 11 blocks against Belhaven while holding the Blazers to none.
--Keystone had more kills each set than the Lady Lions but Piedmont executed forcing them into 32 attack errors with 33 kills.

KATELYN DURMIRE were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances over the weekend.
--The 3-1 record marks Piedmont's best start since the 2013 season.
