LaGrange, GA - The Piedmont College volleyball team fell in two USA South matches earlier Sunday afternoon with North Carolina Wesleyan College and Meredith College each sweeping the Lady Lions in three.
In the first match of the Sunday pair, it was the Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan who started out hot taking a 12-2 lead in the first with Piedmont unable to catch up falling 25-16 in the opener. The second set was the same story for PC as NC Wesleyan again raced out to a 7-1 lead, but Piedmont was able to rally this time catching up to force a 21-21 tie late in the set.
The two would go point for point with PC trailing 24-23 before NC Wesleyan's Evie Hunter put down one of her five kills in the match to hand the Bishops set two, 25-23. In the decider, Piedmont would again push the issue holding a 21-20 lead before NC Wesleyan rattled off five straight to take the set and the match.

However, Meredith won four straight from that point to reclaim the advantage holding off a Piedmont rally to take the opener 25-22. Meredith would take five of the final seven points in the second set to earn a 25-18 decision going up two sets to none.
