Barbourville, KY - Just one week after their first ever competition, the Piedmont College cycling team was back in action this weekend racing at the Mad Dog MTB Race hosted by Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.

A pair of riders competed at the two-day event for Piedmont including youngster ANDREW GUELZO and veteran JESSICA PRINNER.  On Saturday, it was cross country riding for the two featuring a three-mile loop with 400 feet of climbing per lap featuring switchbacks and a fast descent.

Guelzo placed 4th in the Men's B category in the cross country on Saturday while Prinner was prevented from finishing due to a mechanical issue.

Sunday was time for the short track course, a quick half mile loop with gradual ascent into a steep, fast descent.  A race of attrition, it was an event that saw Guelzo win his race while Prinner moved up to place 3rd after starting the race in 10th position.

For Piedmont, the event is the final one before the Lions compete in their first championship series as PC heads to Rock Hill, South Carolina next weekend for the USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships.

Standout Performances
--Guelzo's win in the short track on Sunday highlighted his weekend competition.
--Prinner's move through the pack to place 3rd was impressive following a start in the 10th position.
