Demorest, GA - In the final contest of the regular season, the Piedmont College Lady Lion lacrosse team dropped a close call to the Pride of Greensboro College 14-12. After tying the game with 1:35 to go on a KAYLA JONES goal, the Pride managed to net a goal with 14 seconds remaining then found the back of the net with one second remaining to win by two. 

The Lady Lions trailed by two early in the contest but roared back to outscore the Pride 7-1 inside of three minutes to go in the first half. Greensboro managed to notch a pair before the half to cut Piedmont's four goal lead in half as the Lady Lions led it 7-5 at the break. 

In the second half, it was scoreless for the first five minutes but for the final 20 minutes of play, it was no more than a one goal lead for either team until the final second when the Pride sealed the victory. 

Saturday marked senior day for the women's lacrosse program as the first four-year senior class was honored prior to the contest with six seniors being recognized for their careers in the Green and Gold. 

These two will meet again in less than one week in the semifinals with the USA South tourney field already set. Complete information on seeding will be available following all conference competitions from this weekend. 

Turning Point
--The Pride scored with 14 seconds left to take the lead and tacked on another with one second on the clock to win by two. 

Standout Performances
--CAITLIN O'BRIEN scored four goals to lead the Lady Lions scoring the first goal of the game for Piedmont and a pair in each half. 
--Four Lady Lions recorded a pair of goals each in KAYLA JONES, ALEXIS NARDUCCI, CAHNER MANNS and MAGGIE MCDANIEL

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont was out-shot 18-11 in the second half while turning it over three more times than the Pride in the second period. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont came into the day with a 3-1 record against the Pride including a 2-1 mark in regular season contests.
--These two programs also met in the 2014 USA South semifinals with Piedmont winning 17-13 to advance to the program's first appearance in the league's championship game during just the second year of existence for the Lady Lions.

Up Next
The USA South semifinals with Greensboro awaiting in the postseason as a spot in the title game awaits the winner.  The opening draw against the Pride in Carolina is set for 1:00 pm at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex.
