Rocky Mount, N.C. - For the third straight season, the Piedmont College women's lacrosse team has made its way to the USA South tournament title game as they won in the semi-finals 15-10 over Greensboro. The Lady Lions were led by none other than
MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS who fired up the offense with six goals on eight shots.
In a rematch of a contest played less than one week ago, Piedmont looked like a different team early on as they led by as many as eight in the first half. The Lady Lions allowed Kirsten Norris to score six in the regular season matchup while Douglas changed the landscape Friday scoring six of her own.
Norris was held in check as she scored just three goals, tying her season-low, on 14 shots taken and was the second-leading scorer for the Pride behind Alexa Besch. Piedmont had three goals from
ALEXIS NARDUCCI and a pair from
KAYLA JONES for the multi-goal scorers.
Piedmont led 11-3 with with one minute to play in the first half but the Pride tacked on two late to make it 11-5 heading to the break. Greensboro came out with intensity in the second half scoring a pair quickly to make it 11-7 but the closest the contest got from that point on was 13-10 with 17:17 left on the clock.
