It was all Piedmont in the early going as the Lions held a 6-1 lead with 10:02 to go in the 2nd quarter after a
BRANSON MIKELL score, one of four goals on the afternoon for the senior who also posted five assists on the day.
Though Millsaps was able to keep within striking distance, Piedmont again held a five-goal lead at 10-5 in the 3rd with 9:50 remaining. Â However, the Majors would close to within four before the end of the third making it 11-7 heading into the final period in Demorest.Â
It was in that 4th quarter that Millsaps made its run outscoring the Lions 7-2 in the final period as the Majors tied it up twice in the final seven minutes before taking its first and only lead of the game on a Jack Houtz score with 38 seconds left to make it 14-13.
Millsaps was able to grind out the victory after taking the lead in the final minute holding onto possession for the win against the Lions by just a single score. Â

Standout Performances--
BRANSON MIKELL and
BRITT KENNEDY were the big stat factors for the day on the side of the Lions combining for seven goals and nine assists on the day.

TAYLOR CARTER also put in four goals himself and collected a helper against the Majors.Â
Inside the Box Score--The face-off couldn't have been much closer with Piedmont winning 14 of the 29 while Millsaps held a slim advantage with 15 of their own.Â
--Houtz of Millsaps finished the day with an assist and four goals including the gamewinner in the final minute of regulation. News & Notes--Today's one-goal decision was the third contest in this five-game all-time series with the Majors decided by three goals or less.
--Piedmont now owns a 4-1 mark against Millsaps in the series. Up NextPiedmont will stay at home for its next action hosting Birmingham-Southern College on Friday, February 12 with the contest set to start at 5:00 pm at Walker Athletic Complex.
