Transylvania Knocks Off Lions 7-2 in Men's Lacrosse

Need to Know
Score: Piedmont 2, Transylvania 7
Records: Lions 1-5, Pioneers 1-0
Location: Lexington, Kentucky - Transylvania Athletic Complex

Lexington, KY - The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team scored first but saw Transylvania University answer with six straight en route to a 7-2 decision over the Lions on Saturday afternoon.

TAYLOR CARTER fired the opening score with less than five minutes gone in the 1st, but Transy tied it up less than a minute later before taking the lead on a Clark Watts goal with 6:43 to play in the period.

Piedmont looked to be mounting an attack to tie it before the quarter ended, but a Lions turnover led to a Pioneer goal with ten seconds left in the 1st which put the lead at two goals and extended the Pioneers' advantage beyond reach for the moment.

Neither team scored in the 2nd but Transy scored three in the third to hold a 6-2 lead heading into the 4th.  The Pioneers added one more to post the eventual 7-2 win over PC, their second straight win in the series between the two programs.

Turning Point
--Ben Erwin's goal with just ten seconds left made it a 3-1 lead before the 1st quarter was out to help Transylvania earn the win at home.

Standout Performances
--TAYLOR CARTER scored the first goal of the game as he has now found the net in each of the last two games for the Lions.
--GILBERT IBARRA was able to score an unassisted goal early in the 3rd quarter, his third goal of the season.

--After Piedmont opened up with a one-goal lead, the Pioneers scored the next six in the contest to assume control.
--Transylvania was a perfect 16-for-16 on the clear.
