Second Half Leads Warriors Past Piedmont 18-4 in Men's Lacrosse

Conway, AR - In their first meeting since the 2013 season, Piedmont College and Hendrix College battled in men's lacrosse on Wednesday evening with the Warriors coming away with a 18-4 victory. 

The Warriors led just 4-2 after the first quarter, but Hendrix would go on to score 11 of their 18 goals in the second half to pull away from the visiting Lions for the win at home.

Piedmont saw four different players score a goal a piece with Gilbert Ibara scoring just over six minutes into the contest to tie it up at one.  Hendrix scored two straight before RILEY COCKS found the net to make it 3-2 with 1:41 to go in the first.

However, Hendrix would score the next eight goals in the contest to take control of the contest winning 18-4 down the stretch.  DALE MORLEY made 23 saves in the contest facing 69 shots on the night. 

Turning Point
--The second half set the two apart as Hendrix scored 11 of its 18 goals on the evening while holding the Lions to just two goals in the final two periods. 

Standout Performances
--Four different Lions scored a goal each including RILEY COCKS who posted his second goal of the season.
--Two Warriors scored four goals a piece in Travis Rabun and Cole Cramer.

Inside the Box Score
--RILEY COCKS accounted for all 11 of Piedmont's face-off wins on the night, but the Warriors held the edge with 15 taken total led by by Jason Blatt's seven.
--Neither team converted on any of nine combined extra-man opportunities. 


News & Notes
--Today was the first meeting between these two programs since the 2013 season when Piedmont took a tight 10-9 victory over the Warriors in a neutral site match-up in Nashville, Tennessee.

Up Next
Piedmont gets off the road and returns home for a March 18 showdown with Calvin College from Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The Knights come to Walker Athletic Complex for a 4:00 pm face-off as part of a two-game road trip through the Peach State also playing Oglethorpe three days before coming to Demorest.
