RILEY PRESNELL made his second start for the Lions and picked up his first win in the Green & Gold after giving up just two runs on three hits.
The pitching staff allowed just three hits in the game and struck out 10 batters. Presnell earned the victory going six innings while tossing six strikeouts and walking one batter.
ALLEN TOKARZ pitched two innings of relief while
JOSH THOMAS took the hill for the final inning as both faced just three batters each inning.
Thomas picked up his second save of the season in his second appearance as he closed out the game striking out the side for the final outs.
The first two innings were a pitcher's dual as only one batter reached on a fielder's choice. In the top of the third, the Lions broke through and put a run on the board as
WILL SKIDMORE singled to score
JAKE BROWNING to take a 1-0 lead.
The Tornados plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead 2-1 but in the next half inning the Lions went back to work and regained the lead.
BRADY BALLSTADT led off with a single followed by a Skidmore walk and
GRIFFIN OLSON reached on an error.
EVAN GRESHAM plated the first run of the inning on a fly out to right field then
BRECK DAVIDSON and
ZACH LANGLEY both added an RBI to their day making it 4-2.
The Lions had a total of four runs on six hits in the game as both
ZACH LANGLEY and
BRADY BALLSTADT went 2-for-3 in the game while Ballstadt added a run and a walk.
Turning Point--A three-run fifth inning put Piedmont back on top and led to the final score of 4-2

RILEY PRESNELL earned his first victory in the Green and Gold pitching six innings while giving up just two runs on three hits.

ZACH LANGLEY was 2-for-3 in the game with an RBI in the DH position as well as adding a stolen base.
Inside the Box Score--Piedmont's relief pitching was again outstanding on the mound as
ALLEN TOKARZ and
JOSH THOMAS pitched a combined hitless three innings.
--Both faced just three batters in each inning as Thomas ended the game by striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.
News & Notes--This marked the first meeting between these two teams. Up NextPiedmont continues its stretch in the Lonestar state as they play the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Saturday night at 8 p.m.
