Birmingham, AL - The 2016-17 Piedmont College men's and women's track and field teams opened the indoor schedule at the Birmingham-Southern Icebreaker at the CrossPlex. Eight school records were set with a three individuals accounting for two records each.
KYLE RAY finished third overall in the men's pole vault clearing 4.15m (13' 07.25") setting a new indoor personal record and breaking his own school record in the process. Another school record was set in the men's shot put as
KILLIAN MCCLAIN threw 10.05m while
MITCHELL MERSHON also competed in the shot throwing 8.90m.
NICK LEMONS competed in the men's high jump clearing 1.75m (5' 08.75") for a school record in the event. Lemons also competed in the men's 400m along with
ALVIN JACOBS and
DAQUAN PIERCE. Jacobs and Pierce were in the same heat finishing second and fifth respectively with Jacobs posting the highest finish coming in 14th overall with a time of 52.11, a new school record.
Jacobs also ran the men's 800m claiming another school record with his time of 2:04.20.
NICK LEMONS and Daquan Piece both also competed in the men's 200 with each winning their respective heats while Lemons posted the best time of 23.58, another school record.
For the women,
JULIA GRAHAM and
MEGAN BEATY both competed in the 60m hurdles with Graham setting the school record at 9.70. Graham also set the school record in the women's 200m running a 27.40 while Beaty also raced in the 400m setting a school record.

--The Lions and Lady Lions set a combined eight school records Friday at the meet.

--Piedmont had a total of seven athletes compete on Friday for the first time in a Piedmont uniform.
