STORYLINES
--With a win, Piedmont advances to a USA South final for the 3rd time in four years.
--These two programs have not met this season with the last showdown going to Meredith in 2015.
--Meredith is the tourney host throughout the USA South Final Four.

MATCH FACTS
Piedmont plays its USA South Semifinal with Meredith College on Friday, November 4 with kickoff set for 12:00 pm in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The game will be hosted at Meredith Athletic Field on the Meredith College campus. Live video and live stats will be available for fans unable to make the trip to watch live in person. Admission will be charged since it is a USA South postseason contest ($3 faculty, staff, students, seniors, children; $6 general adult admission).

SCOUTING MEREDITH
Meredith comes to the Final Four as the #1 seed out of the East Division having defeated Averett University in their USA South Quarterfinal match-up by a 1-0 margin at home.  The Avenging Angels are led by sophomore Jessica Wallace's 11 goals on the season with Kayla Boudreau and Hannah Elvington close behind having tallied eight goals each.  Seven Avenging Angels were named to the All-Conference listing while Meredith Head Coach Paul Smith was named USA South Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 10-3 record in the regular season caputuring the East Division #1 seed.

SERIES RECORDS
These two have met nine times since the 2009 season with Meredith holding a 5-2-2 advantage in the series.  Only two of those meetings have come in postseason play with Meredith earning an overtime victory over the Lady Lions back in 2012.  The second postseason meeting was in the 2013 USA South Final when Piedmont won 2-1 to earn its first such title.  Five of the seven wins in the series for the two programs combined have come by only one goal.

BACK AGAIN
This year's site is a familiar one for the Lady Lions as last year's USA South Final Four was also hosted by Meredith College.  It was the site of Piedmont's dramatic title run as then-freshman CASSIDY REICH scored a game-winning goal on a free kick from nearly midfield in the USA South Championship Game with only 15.3 seconds left in double overtime to hand PC the crown.

LOOKING AROUND THE POSTSEASON
Last weekend's Quarterfinal round saw #3 seed Piedmont knock off the #2 seed Covenant on the road while #1 Salem prevailed over #4 seed Maryville in the West Division.  In the East, it was the #1 seed Meredith that defeated the #5 seed Averett while #2 seed Methodist knocked off #6 seed Greensboro in overtime to set the Final Four for this weekend.

GOALKEEPING RECORDS
For Meredith:  Jaisa Loch 11-5...Brook Verburg 1-0.
For Piedmont: CIERRA BELINKIE 8-2...ASHLYN ATNIP 5-4-1.

LAST TIME OUT: COVENANT (1-0 WIN, USA SOUTH QUARTERFINALS)
Playing their first postseason game on the road after a home 1st Round contest Wednesday, the Piedmont College women's soccer team defeated Covenant College 1-0 earlier Saturday in the USA South Quarterfinals.

The win gives Piedmont back-to-back Final Four appearances for the first time as a league member after joining the USA South back in 2012.  Covenant came into the day having not dropped a single home decision on the year going 8-0 on the Mountain during the regular season.

However, an early opportunity for PC gave the Lady Lions just the margin they needed to get by the Scots and advance to the Semis.  A penalty kick was awarded to the visitors after a Covenant Scot handled the ball in the box just before 15 minutes had been played.

Sophomore CASSIDY REICH stepped up to the spot and converted the chance to give Piedmont a 1-0 lead that the Lady Lion defense preserved with another shutout in postseason play.

NEXT UP FOR BOTH TEAMS
Saturday's USA South Championship Game to be held on the campus of Meredith College in Raleigh. The winner of the Piedmont/Meredith game faces the winner of the other Semifinal featuring Methodist University and Salem College. Kickoff will be at 2:00 pm and both live stats and live video will be offered for fans unable to make the trip.
