Late Score by Kane Lifts Lions in 3-2 Victory Over Trinity Baptist College

Demorest, GA - Thanks to a goal in the 11th hour, the Piedmont College men's soccer team won a 3-2 contest over Trinity Baptist College Saturday afternoon. CHASE KANE provided the gamewinner in the 86th minute to lift the Lions to victory moving their record to 7-4-1 overall.

Piedmont had plenty of opportunities with a total of 16 shots in the contest, putting eight of them on frame. The Eagles got on the board first with a score in the 9th minute as Victor Maron scored to give them a 1-0 lead.

The tying goal came from CRISTIAN ALEGRIA as he scored in the 23rd minute as the two would go into the half tied at one. An own goal accounted for the second score for the Eagles but the Lions were able to answer as TOMMY HILL scored his fourth goal of the season assisted by LUKE MARTIN in the 63rd minute.

The game winner came late, but Kane proved he had ice in his veins netting the shot in the 86th minute to seal the victory.

--CHASE KANE leads the team in scoring as he had three goals this weekend and a total of eight this season.

--Piedmont outshot the Eagles 16-6 with eight shots on target for the Lions and five for the Eagles. 

News & Notes
--These two had matched up twice before this afternoon's showdown with Piedmont winning both contests, a 1-0 victory in 2013 and a 2-1 win in 2014.

Up Next
Game three of a five-game stretch at home as Piedmont plays host to Ferrum College on Friday, October 14 with a 4:00 pm kickoff at Walker Athletic Complex.  The game will be aired live over the Mane Event Broadcasting Network for fans unable to make the trip to Demorest.  Live stats will also be provided.  Piedmont is 1-2-1 in its last four vs. the Panthers and 6-2-1 against the Virginia-based opponent since 2007.
