Bristol, TN - After claiming six National Championships on the track in their last outing, the Piedmont College cycling team hit the trail this time competing in a SECCC Mountain Bike event hosted by King University this past weekend.
On Saturday, it was a Short Track race for the squad, a one-mile fitness-oriented circuit in which
JESSICA PRINNER was the first to go off. Coming off a multiple-national title performance on the track just a few weekends back, Prinner was 5th into the hole slot but crashed at the second turn losing 18 places.
Over the course of the final 20 minutes of the 25 minute race, Prinner pulled a comeback to pass every rider winning the race despite the misstep on the second turn.
On the men's side, it was youngster
DYLAN CANTRELL who led the way placing 12th in the men's A 30 minute race while
ANDREW GUELZO was 23rd.
Turning the page to Sunday and the Cross Country race, the Lions faced a three-mile loop through the woods with a technical climb and fast twisty descent. In the women's A 3-lap race,
ERICA ALLAR placed 8th while Prinner was 17th. On the men's side, Guelzo this time paced the squad finishing 16th while Cantrell wound up 19th.
