MATCH FACTS
Piedmont will play a quarterfinal match with Covenant College as part the USA South Championship Tournament on Saturday, October 29 with kickoff in the contest set for 3:00 pm. The game will feature live video and live stats for fans unable to make the trip to Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Admission will be charged since it is a USA South postseason contest ($3 faculty, staff, students, seniors, children; $6 general adult admission).
THE COACH'S CORNER
Here's what Piedmont Head Women's Soccer Coach Stephen Andrew had to say about today's Quarterfinal showdown with Covenant on the road: "We are looking forward to this afternoon's game with Covenant. They are a well-coached team who is extremely tough defensively, but they also have strong attacking players as well and create good chances to get goals. However, we are excited about the challenge and looking forward to getting back on the field."
SCOUTING COVENANT
Covenant enters the postseason as the #2 seed out of the West Division having secured a first-round bye in the USA South Championship Tournament on the final weekend of the regular season. The Scots are led in scoring by Rebekah Gravitt who has tallied four scores on the season while senior Anna Porch has posted a team-best eight assists on the year. Six Scots were named All-Conference including 1st team selections Summer Bader and Rachel Lemay with the latter having posted a 0.45 goals against average this season, 2nd best in the league.
SERIES RECORDS
These two have already met twice this season already with each team winning at home as Piedmont took a 1-0 win on October 21 while the Scots posted a 2-1 win on September 16. The two have met eight times since the 2010 season with Piedmont holding a slim 4-3-1 edge in the series. Only one of the eight meetings has been in the postseason with Piedmont taking a 3-1 win in Martinsville, Virginia when the two met up in the USA South Semifinals. That win came on Piedmont's way to the 2013 USA South Tournament title.
SET UP FOR SUCCESS
In Piedmont's 1st Round win over Huntingdon College on Wednesday, the Lady Lions scored their first three goals on corner kicks including what would be the eventual gamewinner, a header from
MORGAN EDELMAN on the back post before 10 minutes had been played. PC would go on to get goals from
CASSIDY REICH and
NATALIE MUNOZ on corners as well before the halftime break at Walker Athletic Complex.
LOOKING AROUND THE POSTSEASON

Piedmont posted a 4-0 win over the Hawks to move on to face #2 seed Covenant in the quarters while Maryville earned a 3-0 win to get to face #1 seed Salem. The winners of these two quarterfinal match-ups will move on to next weekend's USA South Final Four.
