STORYLINES
--The third meeting between these two programs just this year alone as Piedmont took both by slim margins.
--Winner moves on to face the #2 seed from the West Division, Covenant College, on Saturday, Oct. 29.

MATCH FACTS
Piedmont enters the postseason once again in the USA South beginning with Wednesday's 1st round game at home vs. the #6 seed in the West Division, Huntingdon College.   Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm Eastern with the broadcast carried live courtesy of the Mane Event Broadcasting Network featuring video and live stats available for fans unable to make it to Walker Athletic Complex.  Admission will be charged since it is a USA South postseason contest ($3 faculty, staff, students, seniors, children; $6 general adult admission).

THE COACH'S CORNER
Here's what Piedmont Head Women's Soccer Coach Stephen Andrew had to say leading up to kickoff against the Hawks in Wednesday's 1st round game:  "We are looking forward to getting to host a postseason game in front of our fans. We have had 2 close games against Huntingdon in the regular season but our players seem motivated to try to start a post season run to get back to the NCAA's."

SCOUTING HUNTINGDON
Huntingdon comes in as the sixth seed in the West Division after finishing the regular season with a conference record of 2-10-2. The Hawks are 3-11-3 overall and dropped their last two contests to Agnes Scott and Wesleyan by a score of 1-0 each.  Jenna Maschino and Abi Olmeda are the two leading goalscorers for the Hawks with two each on the season.

SERIES RECORDS
This is the first postseason meeting between these two programs since the 2004 season when PC defeated Huntingdon in overtime in the Great South Athletic Conference Championship Tournament to advance to the final.  PC owns a 20-1 record against the Hawks since 2003, the beginning of Piedmont's NCAA Division III Era, with the only loss coming in 2007 when now Piedmont Head Coach Stephen Andrew was the Head Coach at Huntingdon, a position he held in the '07 season before returning to his alma mater to lead the Lady Lions beginning in '08.

SAV-ING THE DAY
Piedmont's leading scorer on the season, veteran SAVANNAH CASTLES, is also PC's leader in clutch moments as four of her eight goals have been gamewinners this season.  In fact, Castles scored perhaps one of Piedmont's best goals on the season when PC traveled to Montgomery to face the Hawks in their last match-up, a goal that stood as the eventual gamewinner.

POSTSEASON STREAKS
With a win today, Piedmont would hold its longest postseason winning streak as a NCAA Division III member as twice now the Lady Lions have won three in a row in postseason play on the way to USA South titles.  However, after Piedmont's three-game win streak in '13 that saw the Lady Lions lay claim to its first USA South title, PC was defeated in the quarterfinals in the '14 tournament by NC Wesleyan.  Once again, PC owns a three-game postseason win streak and with a win today would have their longest such streak as a Division III member.

LOOKING AROUND THE POSTSEASON
The USA South Women's Soccer Tournament begins today with the first round matchups as the #3 & #6 seeds face off in Piedmont and Huntingdon while the #4 Maryville and #5 Agnes Scott face off at Maryville. The winner of Piedmont's matchup will face #2 Covenant on Saturday, October 29 at 3 p.m. while the winner of the #4-#5 matchup at Maryville will travel to #1 Salem on Saturday for the quarterfinals.

GOALKEEPING RECORDS
For Huntingdon: Leah Leach 3-10-3...Ali Brewer 0-1.
For Piedmont: CIERRA BELINKIE 6-2...ASHLYN ATNIP 5-4-1.

LAST TIME OUT: MARYVILLE, REGULAR SEASON FINALE
Playing their final regular season game of the 2016 season, the Piedmont College women's soccer team was unable to finish off the Scots of Maryville College falling 1-0 in USA South action.

The Scots' game-winning goal came in the 74th minute as a free kick service from the right flank was batted around in the goal box before Maryville's Natasha Enrique tucked it away for the late lead.

Piedmont outshot the Scots 8-6 in the contest but could not find the back of the net with Maryville keeper Mandy Marshall making five saves to preserve the shutout for visiting Maryville.

NEXT UP FOR BOTH TEAMS
The winner of today's contest will face the #2 seed from the West Division, Covenant College, who waits with a 1st round by for the victor of today's showdown.  The contest will be played at the home of the Scots in Lookout Mountain, Georgia on Saturday, October 29.
