Demorest, GA - Stepping out of conference play to take on Division II foe Clark Atlanta University, the Piedmont College volleyball team came up with a 3-1 win earlier Wednesday evening despite dropping the opening set of the contest.
A slow start from PC saw the home team fall behind 9-1 in the opener as Clark Atlanta would hold off the Lady Lions' late charge to win 25-18 for a 1-0 lead in the match. Â However, the Lady Lions recovered winning six of the final eight rallies in the second to take a 25-20 win capped off by one of
AMANDA TROTTER's five kills on the night.Â
The match turned in the third as the two found themselves tied at 23 with the next two points handing a huge advantage to the victor. Â It would be the home team coming out on top as
CECE COGLIANO put down a kill to break the tie before
KAITLYN LOESEL put the set away for good with a kill of her own.
Up 2-1, Piedmont kept it from going the distance with another late-set surge as the home team took six of the final seven rallies in the 4th set winning 25-19 and taking the match three sets to one.
Turning Point
--After Clark Atlanta won four of five rallies late in the third to tie it up at 23, Piedmont seized the opportunity it needed to put the match to bed with back-to-back kills to get to 25 first and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

--Middles
KATELYN DURMIRE and

--
KAITLYN LOESEL was responsible for 16 points tonight for Piedmont with no other Lady Lion in double figures in that category.
News & Notes
--Piedmont now owns a five-match winning streak which ties for the best this season while the Lady Lions own a 3-1 record at home.
--That home record will be tested on Saturday as West Division leader Covenant College comes to town after clinching the USA South Regular Season title earlier this week with a sweep of Maryville.
