Lady Lions Hold Off Hawks 3-1 on the Road in USA South Volleyball Action

Need to Know
Score: Piedmont 3 - Huntingdon 1
Records:  PC 14-10 (6-6 USA South), HC 8-18 (4-8 USA South)
Location: Montgomery, Alabama - Roland Arena

Montgomery, AL - In their second to last road contest of the regular season, the Piedmont College volleyball team was able to get out of Alabama with a conference win taking a 3-1 result from Huntingdon College on Friday night.

Piedmont was pushed in all three sets the Lady Lions won having to go to tiebreak to decide a winner except in the third when Huntingdon took a 25-19 decision.

In the first, Huntingdon fought off set point four times before the Lady Lions were finally able to get a 28-26 winner to go up a set.  The Hawks would have a set point of their own in the second at 25-24, but a service error and back-to-back kills from PC turned the tide giving the visitors a two-set lead.

Though the hosts would get a 6-point decision in the third, Piedmont ended it in the fourth in another close one 26-24 to get a 3-1 win over the conference foe pulling even in USA South play on the year.

Turning Point
--With all but one set pushing into tiebreak, Piedmont's win in the final set of the night was the key to getting the Lady Lions a 3-1 road win in league play.

Standout Performances
--Freshman ANNA WRIGHT had another big night with 13 kills leading the team in that category hitting .195.
--Middles AMANDA TROTTER and KATELYN DURMIRE continue their hot play as well with 19 kills between the two of them.
--LAINEY CHOINIERE had 39 assists on the night, her second straight match with at least 35 assists.

Inside the Box Score
--HALEY HIXON's play at libero has been a bright spot for the Lady Lions this season as the sophomore had 26 on the night bringing her career total to 873.
--Huntingdon had four players in double-digit kill totals for the night, a key factor in forcing the match to four sets.

News & Notes
--Piedmont fell in its last meeting with the Hawks, a straight sets decision that went the way of HC, while the last Piedmont win came in five in '15.
--After having played 18 of their 19 games on the road, Piedmont will now have a chance to play more home games than away games with four of their final five on the '16 slate at Cave Arena starting Wednesday.
