Third Straight Win for Piedmont Volleyball as Lady Lions Topple Salem 3-0

Need to Know
Score: Piedmont 3 - Salem 0
Records:  PC 13-10 (5-6 USA South), SC 7-15 (1-9 USA South)
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina - Salem College

Winston-Salem, NC - Picking up a third straight win earlier Tuesday evening was the Piedmont College volleyball team who defeated USA South foe Salem College in straight sets to finish a four-game, four-day stretch on the schedule.

The Lady Lions started out slow finding themselves in a tightly contested first set as the two sat tied at 21 before Salem took two straight to take a 23-21 lead.  However, a kill from freshman ANNA WRIGHT helped Piedmont right the ship as a LAINEY CHOINIERE ace later ended a four-point run for PC to end the first set.

In the second, the Lady Lions found their legs racing out to a 13-4 lead early in the set though Salem would try to climb back in to avoid the 0-2 hole.  With PC in front 19-13 later in the set, the young squad won six straight to cap an impressive bounce back going up two sets to none.

Already up two sets, Piedmont would see the home team push once again in the third before rattling off eight winners in the final ten rallies of the set to earn a 25-19 win in the finale for a straight sets victory on the road in conference play.

Turning Point
--After a close call in the first, Piedmont put the clamps on defensively in the second allowing just 13 points to the Spirits on the way to a straight sets victory.

Standout Performances
--KATELYN DURMIRE turned in an impressive offensive performance with her .818 hitting percentage tallying 10 kills on 11 attempts with just one error to her name.
--AMANDA TROTTER was the leader in kills with 11 on 16 total attempts tallying a .500 hitting percentage, her second-best hitting performance of the season.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont's .305 hitting percentage is its second best performance of the season only behind a .383 posted against Elizabeth City State.
--Salem posted a -.143 in the second set when the visitors posted their best set of the night winning by 12.

News & Notes
--Tonight's win over Salem is the first meeting between the two programs since 2013, one of two meetings between the pair of programs that came as a non-conference contest.
--Piedmont is 6-0 against the Spirits since 2003 having not dropped a set in any of the half dozen meetings.
