Berea, KY -  In the final road non-conference contest of the season, the Lions shutout future conference opponent Berea 1-0. The game-winner came from freshman LUKE MARTIN who scored his second game-winning goal of his career. 

Martin's shot came in the ninth minute to put the Lions on the board off the assist by JOSE LINARES. It was a fairly evenly matched game on the stat sheet as both teams had a total of nine shots, four in the first half and five in the second.

Piedmont had five shots on target while holding Berea to just two shots on goal as freshman MITCH BARRY snagged both of those shots to pick up a pair of saves. 

The Lions remain on the road to take on Maryville College on Tuesday, October 4 in Maryville, Tennessee before a long home stretch as the season winds down. 

Turning Point
--LUKE MARTIN's game winning goal came in the ninth minute as he scored his fourth goal of the season. 

Standout Performances
--JOSE LINARES notched his fourth assist of the season on Martin's goal as he has had assists in the past two contests. 

Inside the Box Score
--MITCH BARRY recorded a pair of saves in the contest as he posted his third shutout of the season. 

News & Notes
--Berea will be joining the USA South in the 2017-18 academic year. 

Up Next
Piedmont travels to Maryville College on Tuesday, October 4 to take on the Scots who entered the weekend at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
