Box Score 2 Need to KnowScore: Match 1: Belhaven 3, Piedmont 1 - Match 2: Piedmont 3, Agnes Scott 1Records: PC 2-1, Belhaven 2-1, Agnes Scott 2-1Location: Montgomery, Alabama - Huntingdon CollegeMontgomery, AL - The Piedmont College volleyball team began their first tournament action of the season Friday with a pair of matches in the Huntingdon College Jubilee earning a split to move to 2-1 overall. Both decisions were 3-1 with the Lady Lions falling to Belhaven in the opener before coming back to defeat Agnes Scott late Friday evening.
In the first match against Belhaven, the Lady Lions fought back in the third set to take it in extra points 28-26 to avoid the sweep. Despite leading at times during the fourth set, Piedmont lost it in a close 25-21 decision. Piedmont dropped the second set by just two in a 25-23 proving how closely matched these two teams were on the court.
After dropping the opening set to Agnes Scott, Piedmont dominated the court against the Scotties winning three straight 25-11, 25-16 and 25-8. Head Volleyball Coach Sid Feldman attributed the win to his athletes' attitude and their spirited return to win three straight in commanding fashion.
Turning Point-In the first match, Piedmont came up just two points shy of a victory in the second set but turned it around in the third to take their only set of the game 28-26.
-Against Agnes Scott, the Lady Lions lost the opening set but rallied to shut down the Scotties attack and hold them under 15 points in two of the next three sets.
Standout Performances-Seniors
MALLORY LEARY and
TAYLOR CRAMSEY both led the way against Belhaven with 10 kills each.

KATELYN DURMIRE had four blocks, six kills and posted a .545 attack percentage in the first match.

KYLIE BLANTON posted her best performance against Agnes Scott with nine kills on 17 attempts with no errors.
-Cramsey continued her hot streak with 14 kills against the Scotties as she leads the team with 32 kills already through three matches.
Inside the Box Score-
TAYLOR CRAMSEY's 10 kills against Belhaven were tied for tops on the team while her 14 against Agnes Scott led the way, meaning she started the season with back-to-back-to-back games where she was the leader or tied for the lead in kills.

EMILY PETERS had 23 assists in the second match while contributing 23 digs against Belhaven, more than the libero which is uncommon.
News & Notes-Entering today's match, Piedmont had swept Agnes Scott in three of the last four meetings and won all four including a 3-1 decision in 2013.
-Piedmont is now 1-2 all-time against Belhaven University as the Blazers won both of their matches Friday with a victory against Sewanee in straight sets.
Up NextOn day two of the Huntingdon College Jubilee the Lady Lions will take on Sewanee and Talladega College. Piedmont and the Tigers will square off at noon while the Lady Lions will face Talladega at 6 p.m. to end their weekend action.
