Men's Soccer Rallies to Tie Hendrix 1-1 in First Game of Rhodes Classic

Need to Know
Score:  Piedmont 1 - Hendrix 1
Records:  Piedmont 1-1-1, Hendrix 1-2-2
Location: Memphis, Tennessee - Rhodes Soccer Complex

Demorest, GAA second half score helped the Piedmont College men's soccer team force a 1-1 draw with Hendrix College earlier today in a neutral site meeting at the Rhodes Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Hendrix took the lead in the first half with a score from Jacob Warren in the 19th minute during an even open period that saw each team post seven shots.  Though the shot count was even on the day with Piedmont accounting for 21 and Hendrix posting 18, the Lions earned 16 corner kicks on the day including ten in the second half.

PC was able to convert on one of those second half corners to level the scoreboard when a CHRIS BIBLE corner kick was headed back across the box by GRIFFIN GILES to CHRIS KELLER who finished the chance.

Despite 20 extra minutes of overtime, the two squads would have to settle for the 1-1 tie though the two combined for nearly 40 shots and 24 corner kicks, the highest totals in those columns during Piedmont's 2015 season start.

Turning Point
--CHRIS KELLER's game-tying goal in the second half that put Piedmont level with the Warriors after a first-half score by Hendrix.

Standout Performances
--Both keepers had five saves and one goal allowed on the day as Piedmont's KENNETH HEARN posted five saves for the second straight game.
--CHRIS BIBLE and GRIFFIN GILES each had four shots to lead the Lions on the day.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont had all the momentum early in the bonus soccer periods outshooting Hendrix 3-0 in the first overtime including a COLIN LITTLE effort that went wide of the post in the final minute.
--The Lions also had an incredible 16 corner kicks in the contest creating numerous set piece chances throughout the contest scoring on a CHRIS BIBLE corner in the second half.

News & Notes
--The 24 corner kicks combined by the two teams is the most in a Piedmont men's soccer game over the last four seasons.
--Piedmont's 16 corners is also the most by the Lions in the last four seasons with the previous high coming against Toccoa Falls in September of 2012 when PC had a dozen.
