LaGrange, GA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-4 win over hosting LaGrange College earlier this evening with nine different Lady Lions scoring in the road win.
The victory kept Piedmont perfect in 2015 with now a 10-0 record to its name, the best start in the three-year history of the Lady Lion lacrosse program which began with the 2013 campaign. That squad went 9-0 before falling in the tenth contest of the year to Greensboro College.
The Lady Lions are also now 5-0 in league play with just one more conference contest remaining on the docket in the regular season as PC controls its own USA South postseason destiny with Huntingdon College visiting Walker Athletic Complex this Friday.
ALEXIS NARDUCCI scored a game-high seven goals in the win over the Panthers as the total was also a single-game season high for the veteran goalscorer. Piedmont was lights out offensively scoring 20 goals on just 35 shots in the contest.
Piedmont scored the first eight goals of the contest before LaGrange dented the scoreboard as Narducci tabbed a hat-trick before 13 minutes had passed in the first half. With an 8-0 lead in hand, Piedmont saw LaGrange score twice in an 89-second stretch beginning at the 5:33 mark.
However, Piedmont's
JESSICA BERGIN answered the pair of Panther scores with a goal of her own before the intermission to help Piedmont take a 9-2 lead into the break. LaGrange would score two of the first four goals in the second half, but the Lady Lions then scored eight straight for the second time on the night to wrap up the contest with PC coming away 20-4 on top.
Junior
MAGGIE MCDANIEL scored four goals and added three assists to the sheet as she now sits at 27 helpers on the season, tied with Catie Vance at Ferrum for the league lead in that category. Attacker
MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS also helped orchestrate the offensive barage for PC with five assists, one shy of her season-high set in a win over Oglethorpe eight days ago.
FRANCESCA MALABAD and
STORM CUTHBERT each picked up four ground balls to lead the way in that category while McDaniel was tops on the draw as she controlled a team-high five on the night.
Piedmont will put its perfect record on the line when the Lady Lions play host to the Hawks of Huntingdon College in PC's last conference contest of the regular season on Friday, March 27. Opening draw in the contest is set for 3:30 pm at Walker Athletic Complex.
