Volleyball Takes Crucial Contest Against LaGrange College

Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College Lady Lion volleyball team won a crucial USA South South Division contest against visiting LaGrange Tuesday night 3-1 inside Cave Arena. Piedmont dominated in kills and attack percentage with 53 kills and a .213 attack percentage while just giving up 38 kills and a .124 attack percentage to the Panthers.

The Lady Lions won the first set 25-15 but dropped the second set 25-16 after Lagrange jumped out to a 10-1 lead to start the set. Piedmont charged back in the third set though to take a 2-1 lead 25-18 and maintained momentum to take the final set 25-22. 

Piedmont sits in third in the South Division of the conference with a pair of wins over LaGrange and one against Huntingdon. The top three teams from the South Division will advance to the championship tournament at the end of the season.

TAYLOR CRAMSEY led the team with 15 kills as KATELYN DURMIRE and KAITLYN LOESEL both also had double digit kills. EMILY PETERS added 47 assists to her season total as she eclipsed 500 in this match with her season total sitting at 505 assists. HALEY HIXON accounted for 25 digs while HEATHER LAPRADE added 15.

Turning Point
-The Lady Lions dropped the second set but took a strong lead out of the gate in the third set and used the strong start to win the next two sets and take the match.

Standout Performances
-KATELYN DURMIRE was impressive as she tied her season-high of 11 kills which she set previously against LaGrange.
-KAITLYN LOESEL posted a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs.

Inside the Box Score
-The Lady Lions posted 53 kills, just one off the total they had against LaGrange in the previous match which went to five sets. 
-Those 53 kills are the most this season in a four-set match.

News & Notes
-This win marks the season sweep of LaGrange as Piedmont won in five-sets over the Panthers on September 26 in LaGrange and defeated the Panthers Tuesday.

The Lady Lions will travel this weekend to Staunton, Virginia for a tri-match taking on Mary Baldwin College and Greensboro College on Saturday, October 10.
