The Lady Lions won 3-0 over the Fighting Squirrels and took the match against Greensboro 3-2.
Against Mary Baldwin, Piedmont won in straight sets 25-19, 25-13 and 25-17 putting away the Fighting Squirrels. It marked Piedmont's sixth straight sets victory of the season and first in conference play. The Lady Lions kept Mary Baldwin at a negative attack percentage at -.034 for the match.
The Lady Lions were led by TAYLOR CRAMSEY who had 8 kills to go with 8 digs while KAITLYN LOESEL continued her hot streak with seven kills and a .400 attack percentage. HALEY HIXON led the team with 9 digs while EMILY PETERS had a team-best 27 assists.
In the second match of the day, the Lady Lions won in five sets against Greensboro 3-2 behind an impressive outing by MALLORY LEARY. Piedmont lost the first set 25-21 before taking the second set by the same score. The Lady Lions took the third set to go up 2-1 25-18 but dropped the fourth set 25-23 forcing the fifth set. The Lady Lions made easy work of it in the fifth set winning 15-6 to seal the match.
Leary had a match-high 17 kills while posting a .316 attack percentage and nine digs. Cramsey added 12 kills while Loesel had 10 as well. Turning Point--Piedmont won the second and third sets against Greensboro and then made it look easy in the final deciding set.
Standout Performances--Leary had an impressive day with 17 kills against Greensboro
--Loesel posted seven kills and a .400 attack percentage against the Fighting Squirrels.
Inside the Box Score--The Lady Lions held the Fighting Squirrels to a negative atttack percentage and kept Greensboro under .100 at .095.
News & Notes--Piedmont has not lost a match in a tri-match this season and is now 4-0 in five set matches this season. Up NextThe Lady Lions host Emory at home on Monday, October 12 for a midday game beginning at 2:30 p.m. inside Cave Arena. The Eagles are 20-2 overall and ranked third in the country in Division III.
