Demorest, GA - As a part of the continuing 2013-14 home basketball game promotions, the Piedmont College basketball programs are encouraging fans attending tonight's doubleheader against Maryville College to help Black-Out the Cave. USA South rival Maryville College will be coming to Cave Arena for the Wednesday night, mid-week doubleheader as both Piedmont teams are looking to take on a top team in the league on the evening.
Black-Out the Cave has been a tradition at Cave Arena for many years but takes on even more importance in a rivalry that will go a long way to deciding the postseason futures of both the Lions and Lady Lions.

The Piedmont women's basketball team is currently sitting in 2nd place in the South Division of the league and is one game clear of 3rd place LaGrange who recently upset the Scots of Maryville, a team that sits atop the South. The Lady Lions could lock up a spot in the postseason with a win tomorrow night as Piedmont hopes to make it two setbacks in a row for visiting Maryville.
The Lions basketball team is on the outside-looking-in at the moment needing to win out and get some help from the teams in front of them in the USA South standings as they sit two spots back of making the postseason field. However, a win at home over perenial rival Maryville would mean much more than a spot in the postseason for the Lions, especially on Senior Night in the Cave.
A halftime gotcha tourney will also take place at halftime of the men's game as the Piedmont cheerleading senior class of lone veteran Wesley Campbell will be honored at halftime of the women's basketball game. Additionally, Lady Lion senior
Lauren Hamel and Lion seniors
Aaron Thrams and
Will Skaggs will each be honored approximately 5-10 minutes prior to their respective games on the night.
Fans not able to make it out to tomorrow night's games will of course be able to hear
live audio coverage of the doubleheader courtesy of WCON as Michael Harvey and former SID
Richard Dombrowsky will have the call. Fans can also view the games with live video provided by the
Mane Event Broadcasting Network.
