-Piedmont has won four of its last five matches in conference play
-Cougars last loss in the USA South was against the Lady Lions

MATCH FACTS
This marks the third straight season Piedmont has faced Averett in the USA South tournament and in each of the previous meetings, the Cougars have ousted the Lady Lions from the tournament. In Piedmont's inaugural season in the USA South, Averett swept PC in the quarterfinals while in 2013, the Cougars did their damage in the semifinals 3-1, putting an end to the Lady Lions historic 28-9 campaign.

THE COACHES
Averett Head Coach Danny Miller is currently in his 20th year of coaching with the Cougars and has led them to a 503-248 record during his career. His 500th victory at Averett came in a sweep of Mary Baldwin on the home court in Danville, Virginia. Miller is a member of an elite squad now as he is one of only 25 active Division III coaches with 500 wins. He entered the season ranked in the top-40 among active Division III coaches in career winning percentage at .673.

Sid Feldman is in his sixth season as the head coach at Piedmont College and posts an impressive 473-235 record of his own through 19 campaigns as a head coach. Following a historic season in 2013 where he led the Lady Lions to a record 28 wins, Feldman was in the top-50 among active Division III coaches in career winning percentage. The Lady Lions have once again hit 20 wins to give the program 10 straight seasons hitting or eclipsing the 20-win mark.

SCOUTING AVERETT
The Cougars enter the conference tournament as the second seed in the North Division behind Meredith who posted a record just one game better than the Cougars at 16-3. Despite finishing behind Meredith, Averett was able to defeat the Avenging Angels in both meetings this season. Averett enters having won its last eight straight in conference play dating back to the last meeting between these two when Piedmont won 3-2 on a neutral court. The Cougars are on a two match losing streak however as they ended the season out-of-conference.

SERIES RECORDS
Piedmont is 1-4 vs. Averett since 2012 winning the only meeting at a neutral site between the two earlier this season at Ferrum.

SENIORITY RULES
Seniors Kaitlin Norman and Jennifer Opper have both eclipsed 200 kills this season and are the top two on the team with 238 and 201 respectively. Norman averages 2.43 per set this season, tops on the team, while Opper and fellow senior Xandy Green lead the team in service aces with 32 and 27.

LAST TIME OUT: N.C. WESLEYAN & WILLIAM PEACE UNIVERSITY
For the tenth consecutive season, the Lady Lion Volleyball team has earned 20 wins as Piedmont moved to 20-12 overall with two victories against N.C. Wesleyan, 3-1, and William Peace, 3-0 Saturday, November 1. With those victories in conference play, the Lady Lions finished the regular season 11-5 in the league and an impressive 9-2 inside Cave Arena.

Against N.C. Wesleyan, the Lady Lions had 56 kills in the match with three players in double figures as Taylor Cramsey led the team with 16 and both Mallory Leary and Kaitlin Norman added 11 kills. Norman had a double-double as she also contributed 13 digs, tied for the second most on the team.

In the final match inside Cave Arena in 2014, Cramsey once again led the team in kills with 7 while Leary and Norman both had 6 kills as Norman had a .400 attack percentage in the match. Kait Steele led the team with 19 assists and Xandy Green contributed 8 of her own. Heather LaPrade had a team high 7 digs of the 33 for the Lady Lions.

NEXT UP FOR THE WINNER
The winner Friday afternoon will advance in the USA South Conference tournament to face the winner of Match #1 as #5 seed Greensboro from the North takes on #1 seed Maryville from the South Friday at 1:00 p.m. That match is prior to Piedmont and Averett taking the court so these teams will know who they would advance to face in the semifinal before the match begins. That semifinal match pitting the two winners against one another will be at noon on Saturday, November 8.
