PC Scores Half a Dozen in USA South Win Over William Peace on the Road

Defender Sarah Hill scored today's gamewinner as the Lady Lions overpowered USA South foe William Peace University 6-0 in their second conference contest in as many days.
Box Score Raleigh, NC - The Piedmont College women's soccer team scored six goals in a 6-0 shutout of William Peace University earlier this afternoon in USA South Athletic Conference action.  The victory completed a two-game weekend on the road for PC who first picked up a 2-1 win in overtime at Ferrum on Friday before traveling down to Raleigh to pick up the win over William Peace at Wake Med Soccer Park.

Senior Sarah Hill notched the game's winning goal, the first of her Lady Lion career, as the defender from Lilburn, Georgia was able to score in the 8th minute with her classmate, Cydney Goodwin, getting the assist.

No less than three minutes later, another veteran would get on the scoring sheet with Laura Goodwin notching the first of two goals on the day scoring on an assist from freshman Katie Zoller.  The youngster Zoller would again connect with Goodwin six minutes later to put Piedmont up 3-0 after the first 17 minutes of the match.

With a little over 16 minutes remaining in the half, Megan Hatfield would get in on the scoring parade heading away a Kelsey Schaffernoth corner to give PC a 4-0 lead heading into the intermission, more than enough to feel comfortable at the break.

Following the 15 minutes of rest, Piedmont would slow down offensively but still score a pair of goals in the second half, the first of which would belong to Hatfield who tallied the score with just under 14 minutes to play in the match as Zoller picked up her third assist of the day.

Youngster Nicole Entinger wrapped up the scoring earning the first score of her collegiate career with mere minutes remaining in the contest.  Fellow freshman Haley Hall picked up the assist on the sixth and final goal for PC in the match.

The Piedmont back four and goalkeeper Marjorie Hammond kept the Pacers' offense in check throughout the 90 minute contest giving Piedmont and Head Coach Stephen Andrew their third shutout of the 2013 season.  PC moves to 6-1 following the win and is a perfect 2-0 in USA South play as well.  The six-game winning streak is the most since the 2011 team won a half dozen straight twice on the way to a NCAA National Tournament appearance.

The Lady Lions return to the pitch on Friday, September 27th when they play host to USA South rival Meredith College who returns to campus for the first time since the two played an overtime thriller in 2010 that saw PC come out on top 2-1.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm at the Walker Athletic Complex.
