Piedmont Baseball Defeated by Emory Eagles 4-2

Keith Grabowski led the Lions, going 2-3 in the loss agaainst Emory.
Box Score Atlanta, GA - The Lions were unable to come back from a four run deficit after loading the bases late in the game, falling 4-2 to the Eagles of Emory University.

Keith Grabowski started off the first with a single and he would make his way around to third on a bunt and passed ball but the inning ended with the leftfielder left on base. Grabowski led the Lions offense today, going 2-3 at bat.

Emory put the first run on the board in the bottom of the third with a RBI double by Iturrey.

In the fifth, the Eagles put Piedmont in a tough spot with three singles to load the bases. W. Peacock singled through the left side to score two runners, including the eventual game-winner.  One more run scored on an RBI single before the end of the inning.

Two Eagles singled in the seventh to put runners on the corners with two outs, but Lions pitcher Chris Goershel was able to force a ground out to end the inning.

In the top of the eighth, Grabowski walked and moved Dale Bartek to second - Bartek reached on a fielding error, previously. Tate Koons grounded out to the pitcher to put both runners in scoring position. Josh Bailey, who homered in yesterday's win, struck a ball into center field to score both runners and bring Piedmont back into contention. Bailey made it to third after Kevin D'Antignac singled and they both stole bases, but the pair were left on base at the end of the inning to set the final score in stone.

Chris Goershel suffered the loss after seven innings; he moves to 3-6 in his final game of the season.

Piedmont is now 21-22 overall with one more game left in the season. The Lions will finish out the three game series with Emory in Atlanta, GA tomorrow; first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
