As a Senior (2015): Pitched in 63.1 innings in 2015 for the Lions…Led the Lions in strikeouts with 49…Finished his final season with a 4-3 record starting 12 contests…Had his best performance of the season in his first outing going 6.0 innings giving up just two hits and no runs against Maryville College (2/6)…Named Pitcher of the week in the USA South Conference on Feb.9^th for that outing.

As a Junior (2014): Tied for the 1st in starts on the season for the Lions with 12…Led the team in wins, posting a 6-3 record…Recorded  a team 2nd best 48 strikeouts in just over 74 innings of work…Had just under a 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio…Forced his opponents to hit .246 against him…Allowed no earned runs in nearly half of his starts, and recorded a season high 6 strikeouts once against N.C. Wesleyan (3/31), and recorded 5 strikeouts 3 times on the year…USA South Academic All-Conference Selection...Winner of the 2014 Robertson Kindness Award from PC.

As a Sophomore (2013): Served as one of the Lions primary starting pitchers…Posted a complete game against Methodist (4/13)…Struck out seven and received the win in an eight inning performance against Ferrum (3/23)…Led all starters in ERA (3.36)…Posted a record of 3-6 in twelve appearances…USA South Academic All-Conference selection.

As a Freshman (2012): Appeared in seven games posting two starts on the mound…Posted a record of 3-0 in just over 18 innings of work for the Lions.

Prep & Personal: Native of Kennesaw, Georgia…Born December 4th, 1992 to parents Dave and Norma…One older brother, Cameron…2011 graduate of Kell High School…Majoring in Business Administration at PC, also minoring in Mass Comm… Prepped under high school Coach Donnie English…Also played his travel ball for the East Cobb Astros under Coach Russ Dickerson…Named the 2011 Kell High School Varsity Pitcher of the Year going 7-1 in regular season play…Also the 2011 Region 5-AAAA Pitcher of the Year and was a member of the 2011 Cobb County All-County Baseball Team…2011 Georgia Dugout Club Outstanding Season Award…Also a Georgia Dugout Club All-State Team selection and member of the Perfect Game All Southeast Regional Team in 2011…Rawlings Baseball Scholar Athlete Award and three-year Kell High School Scholar Athlete Award winner…Helped lead Kell to four consecutive playoff appearances…Spent 3 years on the Principal’s Honor Roll in High School…Earned the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award…President of DECA (National Marketing Club)…Also Managing Editor of the school newspaper and a Beta Club member…Earned the Presidents Volunteer Service Award in high school…At Piedmont, Goershel is a SAAC rep, member of Team Piedmont, and Northeast Georgia Board Member at Habitat for Humanity.
