Lions Tennis Falls to Methodist University, 9-0

Lions Tennis was defeated by Methodist, 9-0
Fayetteville, N.C. - The Piedmont Men's Tennis team suffered their first loss in two weeks and only their fourth on the season to USA South Conference opponent Methodist University today by a score of 9-0. Despite several close matches, the Lions could not get any wins.

Koen Gottenbos was Piedmont's greatest asset on the day with a first set win in No. 1 singles before a second set loss and a close third set loss 10-8. Gottenbos also partnered up with Nick Hallberg at No. 1 doubles. The pair held onto a tight match but were overwhelmed 8-5. Hallberg, Joel Silverberg, and Chris Davidson all took their singles matches to three sets but were downed by the Monarchs.

The Lions move to 8-4 overall and 4-3 in the USA South Conference after today's matches. Their next opponent is USA South member Greensboro College tomorrow morning at 9:30 am in Greensboro, NC.
