Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia - The Piedmont College baseball team fell to #4 ranked Christopher Newport University by the score of 7-1 this afternoon. The Lions could only manage three hits and made a pair of costly errors en route to the USA South Conference defeat.

The Captains jumped out with three runs in the first inning to take the only lead of the game. After adding three runs in the fifth and sixth innings the Lions found their only run in the seventh as Logan Pethel drove in Tate Koons with an RBI-groundout. 

Michael Barnes and Kevin D'Antignac added single hits respectively while Chris GOershel took the loss on the mound despite going six full innings allowing only three earned runs while scattering nine hits. 

Piedmont, now 11-11 overall and 8-6 in the USA South, will take on the Captains in the final game of the three-game set tomorrow, March 17 starting at 1:00.
