Box Score LAGRANGE, Georgia -- The Piedmont College women's basketball team was outlasted Wednesday night by USA South host LaGrange College by the score of 75-73.  In a back-and-forth affair the Lady Panthers were able to hold off the visitors by relying heavily on their perimeter shooting.

Lagrange (13-8, 8-6 USA South) set the pace early in the first half by virtue of a 14-2 run during which the Panthers poured in four shots from beyond the arc.  Caroline Brashier led the Panthers first half charge, putting in four long-balls of her own before the break.  The Panthers held the Lions in check for the majority of the first half and took a seven-point lead (40-33) into the locker room at the break.

The Lions would storm back early in the second half, going on a 19-1 run that put them ahead of the Panthers 52-45 with 13:18 left to play.  The Panthers called a timeout to regroup and weathered the Lions storm with a 9-2 run of their own to take back the lead with 8:29 left in the half.  Both teams battled for the lead, but it was LaGrange that took over with another Brashier three-pointer with under a minute left to play that put the Lady Panthers on top 74-71.  LaGrange would hold the Lions off in the final minute to secure the victory.

Three-point shooting would prove to be the difference as LaGrange was able to convert 10-30 from long range compared to Piedmont's 1-12.  LaGrange also held the advantage from the charity stripe, going 23-31 to Piedmont's 12-23.

Piedmont placed three players in double-figures led by LAUREN HAMEL's game-high of 22 points.  Hamel also brought down seven rebounds and recorded five steals.  LAUREN ANDERSON had a solid outing as well, recording a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  ALYSSA JONES was the third Lion in double-digits with 13 points.

Brashier was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 19 points.  Catie Covington and Heather Miller also scored in double-figures for the Panthers, netting 15 points each.

The Lady Lions (9-11, 5-9 USA South) will be back in action this weekend when they travel to play conference foe Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM at the Cooper Center.
