Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College women's basketball team used a late 11-0 run in the second half to pull away from visiting William Peace University en route to a decisive 90-55 USA South Athletic Conference victory Saturday in PC's Cave Arena. Four Lady Lions reached double-figures in scoring led by
LAUREN ANDERSON's game-high 17 points.
With PC leading 33-24 with 3:25 remaining in the first half, the Lady Lions used an explosive 11-0 run to end the half and take a commanding 44-24 lead into the break. The second half would be more of the same with the Pacers never getting closer than 18 points down as Piedmont coasted to the 35-point conference victory. The win marks the Lady Lions' second in as many days and evens the squad's overall record a 6-6 while improving the USA South ledger to 2-4.
Anderson rounded out her third double-double of the season with a game-high 11 rebounds.
TAYLOR SWOSZOWSKI added a career-high 14 points on an efficient 5-7 from the field while teammate Kiki Thompson pitched in with 14 of her own to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
ALYSSA JONES capped off the double-figure scorers with an impressive line of 12 points, five assists and a pair of steals.
PC held a decisive 44-32 advantage on the glass and connected on 48% (36-75) of their shots from the field. The Lady Lions also commanded the paint scoring 56 of 90 points in the lane. The team also assisted on 19 of 36 field goals while only giving away 10 turnovers.
Derrica Jones led WPU (4-8, 1-4 USA South) with a team-best 16 points.
Piedmont will return to action on Wednesday with a 6:00 tip against rival LaGrange College in Cave Arena. The game will mark the Lady Lions' fifth game of a seven-game home stand.
