Averett Holds Off Women's Soccer 2-1 In USA South Action

Dilyn MacLean scored the team's lone goal in Piedmont's 2-1 USA South loss to Averett this afternoon.
Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- Averett University used a pair of early goals to earn a 2-1 USA South Athletic Conference victory over the Piedmont College women's soccer team this afternoon at PC's Walker Field.  The Cougars scored twice in the first 21 minutes to earn their sixth straight victory of the season.

Pernilla Milton netted an unassisted goal at the 17:34 mark and just four minutes later Sanda Johansson tacked on the eventual-game winner with the assist credited to Milton. 

Piedmont would answer at the 30:24 mark on a goal by DILYN MACLEAN with the assist credited to KELLEY MILLER.

The 2-1 score would hold for the remainder of the game despite numerous chances from each side.

Averett's Malin Borjesson earned the win in goal for AU turning away one Piedmont shot.  MARJORIE HAMMOND tallied seven saves for the Lady Lions.

Averett held advantages in shots (13-9) and corner kicks (5-4). 

The loss drops Piedmont to 8-4, 2-3 USA South while the win improves Averett to 7-3 and a perfect 5-0 in league play.  Piedmont returns to action on Saturday, October 6 when the team travels to Maryville College to face the host Scots in conference action at 4:00 PM.
