Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team held a 1-0 advantage at halftime but could not make it stand up as the Lady Lions dropped a 5-2 decision at Birmingham Southern College.  The loss is the first of the season for Piedmont and moves the Lady Lions to 4-1 on the season.

DILYN MACLEAN got the game off on a good foot with a goal in the 15th minute on an assist from LAURA GOODWIN.  That goal would be the lone score of the first half.

BSC equalized in the 60th minute on a Devin McDonald goal but the Lady Lions would bounce right back and gain a 2-1 advantage on a Kelly Miller header.  The host Panthers would again square the game up at two apiece as Avery Newcomb found the back of the net just six minutes later.

From there, BSC would tack on three late goals in the 72nd, 83rd and 88th minute to end the game.  The five goals were the first time the Piedmont defense has allowed a score through the first five matches.

The Panthers outshot Piedmont 27-5 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Piedmont will open up its first-ever season of play in the USA South Athletic Conference on Saturday with a 10:00 AM kickoff at Ferrum College.
