Piedmont Tastes Perfection As Lions Claw Through Maryville On Road For Unblemished GSAC Record

Joel Silverberg clinched the men's 9-0 win over Maryville College on the road to finish a perfect 8-0 in GSAC competition this season. The sophomore's straight sets win was his 11th straight of the year.

Maryville, TN - The Piedmont Lions showed again how dominant they are, bashing Maryville College on the road Sunday afternoon to finish a perfect 8-0 Great South Athletic Conference record. The 9-0 win over the rivals gave the men eight wins in the last nine matches.

Sophomore Joel Silverberg won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to clinch for the Lions, earning his 11th win of the year. After starting the season 0-5, he has yet to fall since. The Lions have one match remaining, a non-conference contest against visiting Emmanuel College at 4:00 pm. Piedmont is now 11-5 and 8-0 in GSAC play heading into the conference tournament, which starts April 20 at Maryville College.
