Box Score

Demorest, GA - The Lions hadn't lost a tennis match since March 14 until Wednesday night when Oglethorpe University defeated the host team 7-2, bringing to an end Piedmont's six-match winning streak.  The men couldn't get much going throughout the contest, as sophomore Joel Silverberg picked up the lone singles point in the losing effort.

Silverberg's come-from-behind victory (0-6, 6-0, 6-3) at #2 singles accounted for half of the scoring.  Freshman Nick Hallberg and sophomore Christopher Davidson teamed up for a #2 doubles win as well.  The duo was fresh off winning the Great South Athletic Conference doubles players of the week award for a second consecutive week, while moving to 13-1 now on the season as a combo after dropping their first match of the season.

Silverberg turned his season around completely after starting the year 0-5 in singles matches.  Since then, he's racked up nine straight wins to go 9-5 overall.  The Lions will return to action tomorrow when taking on visiting Covenant College at 3:30 pm.  Piedmont now stands at 9-5 overall and still 6-0 in GSAC matches.
