Lions Prey On Hawks To Open GSAC Play

Moses Das and Patrick Steck both contributed in Piedmont's 6-3 win at Huntingdon, despite not winning their #1 doubles match together. Das (left), the senior reigning GSAC player of the year, won his #1 singles match, while Steck (right), a sophomore, won at flight 3 singles.

Montgomery, AL - The Lions made their first step toward repeating as Great South Athletic Conference champions when taking down Huntingdon College 6-3 on the road Saturday evening.  The match was clinched at #6 singles when sophomore Jay Evans was a winner at 6-4, 6-3.  The men garnered four singles points with wins by senior Moses Das, sophomore Patrick Steck, freshman Nick Hallberg and Evans.

The doubles combo of Hallberg and sophomore Christopher Davidson at flight two, and Evans and sophomore Joel Silverberg won doubles points for the Lions.  Piedmont runs its record to 2-3 and 1-0 in GSAC competition.  The Lions return to the court tomorrow at 1:00 when traveling to LaGrange College.
