Cleveland, GA - The Lady Lions earned a split with Truett-McConnell Monday night on the road, taking the first game 4-1 before falling 8-5 in the finale.  Piedmont took the season series after winning both games of a double header at home to begin the season over the Bears, including head coach Terry Martin's 300th career win.

Game one was scoreless until the Lady Lions put a trio of runs on the board in the fourth before adding an insurance tally in the seventh frame.  The women took the 4-1 victory despite being out-hit 6-4 by the Bears.  Juniors Megan McClain and Megan Kesler drove in a run apiece for Piedmont.  Sophomore Brittney Head picked up her seventh win of the season, going the complete game while striking out seven to just two walks and six hits.

A sloppy second inning for Piedmont led to five Truett-McConnell runs, as the Bears took complete advantage of two costly errors to overcome a 1-0 deficit.  The 5-2 lead proved to hold up despite the Lady Lions' third inning in which they came up with two more runs of their own, also cashing in on a pair of errors to close the gap to 5-3.  It was sophomore Lauren Head's two-run double that helped the Lady Lions claw back into it.  However, the host team immediately mirrored the Lady Lions, scoring two additional unearned runs to go up 7-3.  Piedmont's final rally came in the seventh when Head came in to score on freshman Kristin Hamby's error hit to second.  Fellow freshman Whitney Wolfe doubled in the Lady Lions' final run to make it an 8-5 game, but she was stranded before the women could complete the comeback.

Piedmont now stands at 9-7 overall on the season and face the fourth-ranked Emory University Friday on the road.  The women won't play on the home diamond again until April 14 when taking on Wesleyan College for a pair.  The Lady Lions are currently 4-0 in Great South Athletic Conference play.
