Box Score

Asheville, NC - The Lions kept with Warren Wilson for much of the first half, even having the lead on multiple occasions until the Owls pulled away en route to a 68-49 loss on the road.  Piedmont led by one until the five minute mark in the first half.  Warren Wilson led by as many as 22 down the stretch, holding the Lions to just 25-percent from the field in the second.

Freshman Dylan Delaney, who led the offense with 12 points on the evening, put the first five points on the board for the men to go up 5-2 early on.  Eventually the Owls would catch up and took a brief 8-7 lead until senior Josh Haymore sank a tri-fecta to go up a bucket with 13 minutes left on the clock.  The next five points belonged to Warren Wilson, but again Piedmont was bailed out by the three ball, as junior Michael Ross dialed long distance for the 13-13 tie.

Moments later, Delaney struck again with his second deep shot, pushing the Lions up three points with 9:38 remaining in the half.  Delaney's jumper with 5:04 to go marked the last time Piedmont would even have a share of the lead, as the Owls closed the half on a 10-2 run to go into the locker room up 31-24.

Piedmont kept its deficit in double digits and gave one last rally with a short 6-0 run, as Haymore drained a jumper to make it a two-point game with under 10 minutes to go.  Warren Wilson then responded with the next six points in return, although Piedmont continued to stay within striking distance.  The defining run for Warren Wilson was an 17-1 run shortly thereafter in a crucial three minutes, as the Owls took a game-high 22-point lead with 1:17 to go in the game.

Sophomores Kyle Lundberg and Tyler Arnold both ended with seven points in the loss, as the Lions move to 5-16 overall on the season.  Piedmont returns to action Wednesday night against LaGrange in a crucial Great South Athletic Conference game, with tip-off set for 8:00 pm.
