Box Score

Demorest, GA - The Lions got off to a quick start in beating Berry College in the home-opener of the 2012 season, as five of six men won their singles matches in the 7-2 victory.  Sophomore Christopher Davidson and freshman Nick Hallberg were instrumental in the win, as both picked up singles wins and combined for a doubles point as well.

Hallberg won at #4 singles 6-4, 6-2, prior to Davidson's 6-4, 6-1 win over his #5 singles opponent.  The duo took an 8-4 #2 doubles win.  Davidson's singles win clinched the match for the Lions.  Senior Moses Das opened the match with a win at #1 singles, as sophomores Patrick Steck and Jay Evans both picked up wins as well.

Perhaps one of the more exciting matches took place at #2 singles, where sophomore Joel Silverberg fell 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7) in an extremely tough contest.  Silverberg later teamed up with freshman Trey Martin in #3 doubles, as the pair won 8-2.  Piedmont is now evened up at 1-1 on the season and travel Friday to Sewanee-University of the South for a 2:00 pm match.
